Kenya\u2019s Health Minister, Aden Barre Duale, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, reiterated Kenya\u2019s full recognition of the Federal Republic of Somalia.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the 65th anniversary of Somalia\u2019s independence in Nairobi, hosted by the Somali Ambassador to Kenya, Jibriil Cabdulle, Aden Duale stressed that Kenya stands fully with Somalia and is committed to safeguarding its sovereignty.<\/p>\n

\u201cKenya commends Somalia\u2019s efforts towards regional peace and stability, particularly the transition plan from ATMIS to AUSSOM. We fully recognize the Federal Republic of Somalia, and we support all efforts to strengthen regional peace through diplomacy and cooperation,\u201d Duale said.<\/p>\n

Duale also expressed Nairobi\u2019s readiness to further strengthen ties between the two East African countries, stressing that Somalia and Kenya enjoy a mutually beneficial and cooperative relationship.<\/p>\n

“As Somalia celebrates this historic achievement, I expressed Kenya’s readiness to partner in developing the Blue Economy, strengthening people-to-people ties, and our solidarity in advancing peace, combating climate change, and sustainable development \u2014 both regionally and internationally,” Duale said.<\/p>\n

Duale attended the event on behalf of Kenyan President William Ruto, and was accompanied by senior Kenyan government officials, including Women\u2019s Affairs Minister Hanna Cheptumo, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing\u2019oei, and Permanent Secretary for Culture Ummi Bashir, among others.<\/p>\n

Kenya\u2019s commitment to Somalia comes a month after Somaliland opened a diplomatic office in Nairobi, despite Kenya\u2019s foreign ministry\u2019s public denial a few days ago.<\/p>\n
