The Puntland administration has sent a high-ranking delegation to Galkayo, where a civil unrest is underway to protest the administration\u2019s failure to address the needs of the Mudug region, especially the ban on projects allocated to the region by the Federal Government.<\/p>\n

The people of Galkayo complain that the Puntland administration has focused on developing other regions, while Mudug, which they say was a major supporter of President Deni\u2019s re-election, has been neglected and shown to be indifferent to action.<\/p>\n

The main complaints expressed by the people include the suspension of the construction of the road connecting Xarfo and Galkayo, the renovation of the Galkayo airport, the removal of rainwater from the city, and the completion of the Mudug regional hospital, which has not been completed since the suicide bombings that took place in Galkayo in 2016.<\/p>\n

Members of Parliament and other officials from the Puntland councils have traveled to Galkayo, trying to calm the people and convince them to call off the uprising in the city.<\/p>\n

The officials told the community that the Puntland administration is now starting to implement the stalled projects, noting that the construction of the Xarfo-Gaalkacyo road project is a top priority. They also said that the administration is working on a sustainable solution to the city’s stormwater problem.<\/p>\n
