The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan has officially submitted a complaint to the Federal Government of Somalia against the Puntland administration, alleging that Puntland is indirectly participating in the ongoing civil war in Sudan.<\/p>\n

An official letter sent to the Federal Government stated that local and international sources indicate that Puntland is providing strategic and logistical support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a militia widely accused of human rights abuses and war crimes in Sudan.<\/p>\n

The letter stated that the Bosaso airport has become a hub for military travel and supplies used by the RSF, with suspicions that this support comes from foreign countries, including the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n

The Sudanese government also expressed serious concern over a statement made by the Puntland Minister of Information, Mahmoud Aedidid Diriir, who completely denied that Puntland has any connection to the Sudanese crisis. Sudan said the statement was misleading and an attempt to cover up Puntland’s role in supporting RSF.<\/p>\n

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry also pointed out that Minister Mahmoud Eydiid holds British citizenship, prompting the Sudanese Embassy in London to formally contact the UK government to discuss the implications of his remarks.<\/p>\n

Although Sudan claims to have good diplomatic and brotherly relations with the Somali people and the Federal Government of Somalia, it has made it clear that Puntland\u2019s support for RSF is considered a serious threat to Sudan\u2019s national security and will damage relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Sudan has firmly stated that it will not accept that RSF or its leadership receive political, military, or logistical support, as they are accused of being responsible for the killing of thousands of civilians and widespread instability in the Sudanese region.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Government of Sudan has requested the Federal Government of Somalia to urgently investigate this matter, take appropriate action, and reaffirm its position on protecting Sudan\u2019s sovereignty and regional peace.<\/p>\n
