Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has invited the heads of the country’s regional states to attend the National Consultation Forum to discuss the general situation in Somalia.<\/p>\n

A statement from the Somali Presidential Palace said that the President, based on the call for National Unity and Consultation on March 31, 2025, has extended an invitation to the heads of the regional states to attend the National Consultation Forum.<\/p>\n

This forum called by the President and scheduled for May 1-2 is important for ensuring national unity and for jointly completing the country’s liberation operation and accelerating the fight against terrorism, said a statement from Villa Somalia.<\/p>\n

President Hassan Sheikh will also hold consultations with intellectuals and other sectors of Somali society.<\/p>\n

Finally, the news stated that the Federal Government of Somalia is reaffirming its commitment to consultation, cooperation and partnership to ensure Somali interests, primarily the liberation of areas where terrorism remains, the completion of state-building and the development of the country.<\/p>\n

It was not clarified at this meeting whether the Presidents of Jubaland and Puntland, who are in conflict with the Federal Government, are among those invited, as their previous disagreements have not yet been resolved.<\/p>\n

We also noted that the President is meeting only with the opposition to the Government, and that he will consult with the intellectuals and various sections of society.<\/p>\n
