<\/p>\nOpposition politicians from the Southwest region who are part of the Maanshiil organization have welcomed the peace talks announced a few days ago by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, saying they will greatly contribute to the current situation in the country.<\/p>\n
“The Maanshiil Forum welcomes the call by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to provide a platform for national consultations to discuss the fate of the Somali nation,” a Maanshiil press release said.<\/p>\n
Maanshiil officials have revealed that they see the President’s call as a commendable and welcome step that could lead to a solution to the political uncertainty and security threats facing the country.<\/p>\n
They also noted that the Presidential Declaration has created hope for the Somali people, and therefore we encourage the Somali Government to implement the platform to achieve open and inclusive politics, and to unite in the defense of the country and the fight against terrorism.<\/p>\n
Since Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud extended the platform for peace to allow political stakeholders to express their views on the current situation in the country, the number of political parties that have welcomed the platform has increased.<\/p>\n
