Al-Shabaab has canceled its Eid military parade, which it has traditionally used to showcase its military might and weapons. Reports indicate that this is due to the impact of the ongoing airstrikes on the group.<\/p>\n

For the first time, no soldiers or officials were seen in the parade grounds in areas controlled by Al-Shabaab. This comes at a time when the Somali government and international partners are regularly bombing Al-Shabaab strongholds.<\/p>\n

The Somali government has previously warned the public to stay away from Al-Shabaab strongholds, as they are the target of airstrikes and military operations aimed at weakening the group.<\/p>\n

Reports from Al-Shabaab-controlled areas such as Galhareeri (Galgaduud), Jilib (Middle Juba), Mubarak (Lower Shabelle), Ceel Garas (Galgaduud), Buq\u2019aqable (Hiran), Jowle (Mudug), and Kuunyo Barow (Lower Shabelle) indicate that no Al-Shabaab fighters or leaders were seen during the Eid celebrations.<\/p>\n

Al-Shabaab leaders only participated in the celebrations via voice messages, refraining from appearing in person at the Eid prayer venues.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in the Middle Shabelle region, where fighting is currently ongoing between Al-Shabaab and government forces, Al-Shabaab did not release any information regarding the Eid celebrations. This further strengthens the assumption that the bombings have significantly affected the group\u2019s power and activities.<\/p>\n
