<\/p>\nLeading politicians have joined the crowd in welcoming the peace conference called by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, describing it as necessary to bring the country out of the difficult circumstances it is going through.<\/p>\n
The politicians include former Somali Prime Ministers Omar Abdirashid and Abdiweli Ali Gaas, along with former South West President Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden and other leading leaders of the country’s political parties.<\/p>\n
“We welcome the call by the Federal Government of Somalia to convene a national conference to discuss the fate of the Somali people and reach mutually acceptable decisions that will end the political conflict,” the politicians said in a press release.<\/p>\n
They also commended the armed forces – both national and state – who are fighting the Al-Shabaab and ISIS in areas of Hirshabelle, South West and Puntland.<\/p>\n
Finally, they called on the Somali people to support the forces at all levels to eliminate the enemies who have shed the blood of the Somali people.<\/p>\n
