The Vice President of Puntland, Ilyas Osman Lugatoor (Ilyas Dheere), has praised Puntland scholars for playing a good role in the government’s fight against Daesh and Al-Shabaab groups.<\/p>\n

Puntland’s vice president apologized to the scholars as he said that uninformed people in their administration made inappropriate comments about the scholars.<\/p>\n

Ilyas Osman Lugatoor said that he and the scholars retired together in the fight against ISIS, and he said what they agreed to do.<\/p>\n

“An uninformed person from the government said something about the scholars. “We and the scholars have retired from fighting Daesh, and what we put together is working,” said the Puntland Vice President.<\/p>\n

Puntland authorities have recently criticized the media for the clerics, saying that the community’s clerics are not aware of the war against Daesh. And they criticized that they played the required role.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Mohamud Haji Yusuf, one of Puntland’s leading scholars and senior members of the Itisaam congregation, who was responding to criticism, accused Puntland authorities of neglecting the fight against Al-Shabaab and Daesh.<\/p>\n

He said that there is a need for serious dialogue and to deal with many problems in Puntland, such as drugs and the influx of refugees from Ethiopia.<\/p>\n
