The Somali government has said that an official solution has been reached to the Ethiopian consulates in Garowe and Hargeisa which the government has ordered to be closed.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia said that the two consulates are directly under the Ethiopian embassy in Mogadishu.<\/p>\n

The Minister of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ali Balcad, who gave an interview to VOA Somali, said that the two countries also agreed that Ethiopia will appoint new consuls to the consulates of the two cities.<\/p>\n

Recently, Puntland said goodbye to the Ethiopian consul in Garowe, after he was called to his country and told that his duties have ended.<\/p>\n

This move is seen as part of the efforts to restore the diplomatic relations between the two countries, which have deteriorated in recent times.<\/p>\n

In April last year, the Federal Government of Somalia ordered Ethiopia to close its consulates in Garowe and Hargeisa, after accusing Ethiopia of interfering in its independence.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia did not comply with the government’s order to close the two Ethiopian consulates in Garowe and Hargeisa.<\/p>\n
