The Minister of Information of Puntland, Mohamud Ayid Dirir, has revealed that the foreigners of the Daesh group have surrendered to the Puntland administration.<\/p>\n

The minister said plans are underway to return foreigners who have surrendered to their countries, while working with immigration organizations such as IOM and the Red Crescent.<\/p>\n

Mohamud Aydid Dirir indicated that the plan to return the foreigners is ongoing, but did not provide details on the number of people who surrendered, their countries of origin, and the official period of repatriation.<\/p>\n

“Foreigners have surrendered and are in the process of being deported to their countries and the IOM and the Red Crescent are working with us,” said Minister Mohamud Ayid Dirir.<\/p>\n

The minister also noted that people who are not born in Somalia and those who surrender and belong to the groups that Puntland is fighting are equal under the law in terms of the crimes they have committed.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Minister denied reports that amnesty will not be granted to foreign fighters. He stressed that the amnesty previously announced by President Saeed Abdullahi Deni is still open, especially for those who surrender in wartime and those who surrender in peacetime.<\/p>\n

Recently, an officer of the Puntland security forces said that there will be no pardon for foreigners caught in the war against Daesh.<\/p>\n
