Immigration officials in Washington have deported a former senior officer of the Somali military, who they say has committed torture, terror and other human rights violations.<\/p>\n

This 71-year-old officer named Yusuf Abdi Ali, also known as “Tukeh”, was deported by immigration officials from the United States on December 20. Somalia during the period of President Siad Barre from 1987 to 1989.<\/p>\n

As a senior officer in the Somali Armed Forces, Ali is said to have engaged in acts of terror against the rights of civilians. He is believed to have committed several human rights violations. including illegal killings, torture and illegal detention as suggested by US prosecutors.<\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by the Migration Agency on December 23, the Somali National Army has committed many human rights violations during those years, including the execution of suspects. to oppose the politics and destruction of water resources to target civilians.<\/p>\n

In February 2024, a Justice Department immigration judge issued a 65-page decision finding that Ali personally committed torture while leading the Somali National Army.<\/p>\n

According to the decision, Ali ordered the soldiers under his command to arrest, torture and assist in illegal killings, and finally the judge ordered that he be deported to Somalia.<\/p>\n
