The president of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Cirro, said that he wants to end the crisis in Sool and Sanaag regions.<\/p>\n

President Cirro, who held a security meeting yesterday with the leaders of the opposition parties in Kulmiye and Kaah, also ordered the military forces to fully defend Somaliland.<\/p>\n

“The president said that his government is not at war with its people, but it is a constitutional duty to defend the country from any enemy that gathers together. The national forces have full authority to defend the country and the people,” said President Hussein Cige Dayr.<\/p>\n

The president once again called for an unconditional peace framework for everyone involved in the conflicts in Sool and Sanaag regions, in order to reach a solution based on consensus.<\/p>\n

The opposition parties, for their part, have promised to stand alongside the new government and work with the defense and unity of the people of Somaliland.<\/p>\n

President Cirro has said many times that he wants to find a peaceful solution to the recurring conflicts in the regions of Sanaag and Sool, which have caused deaths, injuries and displacement.<\/p>\n
