The Executive Committee of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has concluded the second consultation and review under the ECF in Somalia.<\/p>\n

After this review, the IMF Board of Directors approved the immediate payment of approximately $10 million to Somalia, bringing the total IMF disbursements to $60 million.<\/p>\n

This financial support is intended to strengthen the stability of Somalia’s economic growth. These reforms are part of Somalia’s efforts after Somalia reached the highest level of the Highly Indebted Countries Initiative.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, Mr. Bo Li praised the ongoing reforms in Somalia, stressing the progress made in financial reforms, government financial management, and debt management capacity.<\/p>\n

“Strengthening domestic revenue mobilization remains critical as foreign aid continues to decline, and Somalia continues to address broader social and development needs,” he said.<\/p>\n

The IMF also praised the efforts to rebuild the power of the central bank of Somalia and the preparations for the repatriation of the Somali shilling, supported by the IMF and the World Bank.<\/p>\n
