Heavily armed forces of the Somali military have been deployed in the town of Elwaq in the Gedo region, after mediation talks between Kenya failed to resolve the political tensions arising from the new electoral system of one person and one vote in the country. Troops from the 43rd division of the country’s armed forces are said to have formed new defenses when they arrived there, and are preparing to launch operations against Al-Shabaab.<\/p>\n
