Somalia said that Egypt has promised to send peacekeeping forces to its country, to cooperate with the security.<\/p>\n

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi attended a summit in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea on Thursday, where he and the leaders of Somalia and Eritrea pledged strong cooperation on regional security.<\/p>\n

The Somali authorities said in a report at the end of the summit that they welcome Egypt’s offer to send troops to Somalia to be part of the stabilization forces when the African Union forces are disbanded in December.<\/p>\n

The press release said that the leaders welcome the decision of the Security and Peace Council of the African Union for the African Union Mission to Support the Stabilization of Somalia, or AUSSOM, whose responsibility will be part of Egypt or others.<\/p>\n

The statement signed by the representatives of Somalia, Egypt and Eritrea stated that Somalia has the right to determine the form, activities and time of sending AUSSOM troops.<\/p>\n

Since 2007, the Somali government has been receiving support from the African Union peacekeeping mission in the war against Al-Shabaab, which is linked to Al-Qaeda, and is responsible for many deadly attacks in the country.<\/p>\n

The summit in Asmara followed a period of tension in the region as a result of disputes between Ethiopia and others.<\/p>\n
