A tripartite meeting between the presidents of Eritrea, Egypt and Somalia was held recently in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea.<\/p>\n

The meeting started immediately after the arrival of Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi in Asmara a few hours ago, while Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived there yesterday evening.<\/p>\n

The tripartite meeting that is currently going to the presidents of Eritrea, Egypt and Somalia will discuss regional cooperation and the stability of the Red Sea waterway, according to a brief statement issued by the Somali Presidency.<\/p>\n

This meeting comes at the same time as the diplomatic tension between Somalia and Ethiopia is intensifying as a result of the agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland at the beginning of this year, which is to give Ethiopia a part of Somalia’s waters, in exchange for which Somaliland recognizes it as an independent state.<\/p>\n

Reliable reports related to the meeting opened for the leaders of Eritrea, Egypt and Somalia state that the three presidents will establish a tripartite alliance that unites them.<\/p>\n

The foreign ministers of these countries are also on their way to a special meeting, and it is expected that a statement will be issued at the end of the tripartite meeting in Asmara.<\/p>\n
