The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, today welcomed in Mogadishu the Secretary General of the regional organization IGAD, Workneh Gebeyehu, who was the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.<\/p>\n
The meeting came at a critical time, as the Minister of Religion discussed with Workneh Gebeyehu important issues regarding the situation in the Horn of Africa and relations with Ethiopia.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia spoke about the need for IGAD to play a prominent role in bringing Ethiopia back to the legal path, to withdraw from the agreement it entered into with the Somaliland administration, which the Somali government considers to be a violation of its sovereignty. and its independence.<\/p>\n
Minister Fiqi indicated that the secretary of IGAD should be given a clear message regarding the crisis in the Horn of Africa, saying that they have full confidence that the IGAD organization can play a major role in the issues that Ethiopia is having.<\/p>\n
He also stated that Somalia is not hostile to Ethiopia and its people. But he said that the leadership of Ethiopia is the one whose message is going on and they need to bring back their wisdom.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Somalia’s foreign minister and IGAD secretary Workneh Gebeyehu Negewo signed a memorandum of understanding in Mogadishu regarding Somalia’s participation in IGAD programs.<\/p>\n
