The Federal Government of Somalia has sent a call to the countries that have troops in Somalia, urging them to comply with international law and the regional structure.<\/p>\n

This announcement was made by Somalia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Abukar Osman Baalle, who gave a brief report at the meeting of the United Nations Security Council.<\/p>\n

Abukar Baalle clearly told those countries that it is important to respect the territorial integrity of Somalia, warning that the interests of foreign military countries can sometimes cause confusion that could threaten the stability of the country.<\/p>\n

He also indicated that if international norms and territorial integrity are not taken into account, these measures may be taken as aggression.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Baalle also said that it is essential to have adequate funding to support peacekeeping operations.<\/p>\n

However, the statement of Somalia’s ambassador to the United Nations seems to be directed towards Ethiopia, which is accused of interfering in the territorial unity of Somalis, after it signed a maritime agreement in January of this year with Somaliland.<\/p>\n
