The Djibouti government has said that it will not give Ethiopia a port that it has 100% control over, but it wants to enter into a trade agreement with Ethiopia on the port of Tojora, which it has previously said that it will completely hand over to Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti Mohamud Ali Yusuf, unlike his previous promise, said that Ethiopia will not give Tojora port, but they want to manage it together.<\/p>\n

“We have never said that we have sold the market or we are giving it to someone, but we have managed the Tojora market together. We want to keep the business going to Ethiopia,” said Minister Yusuf.<\/p>\n

He said that 60 million dollars was spent on the construction of the Tojora port, but we could not pay the salaries of the workers, so they want to make it a commercial port, so that the business of Ethiopia does not shift to Somaliland and Eritrea.<\/p>\n

“East, the Asab port will be opened and some cargoes will move there. It is possible that others will move to Somaliland. We want to keep the business with Ethiopia,” he continued.<\/p>\n

The minister said earlier that they will give Ethiopia a port to have 100% of its management, to settle the conflict between Somalia and Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

Also, he recently said that we will not give Ethiopia a naval base, but they are traders, and the conflict between Somalia and Ethiopia will be resolved by the two governments.<\/p>\n
