The Cabinet of Ministers of Somalia held its weekly meeting today and called on the people to unite for the defense of independence, nationalism and unity of the country.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre, who chaired the meeting of the Council of Ministers, underlined the need for Somali citizens to avoid acts of social division.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister stressed the need for a joint effort to achieve political stability and clarified the government’s strong position against the groups the government calls Khawarij and anything that harms the unity of the nation.<\/p>\n

The announcement of the Council of Ministers follows, as recently the people living in the Bakool region in South West Somalia supported the presence of Ethiopian troops.<\/p>\n

The sentiment of the people of Bakool is against the Somali government’s plan to remove the Ethiopian troops from the country and replace them with troops from Egypt.<\/p>\n

The people of Bakool argue that the Ethiopian army has contributed greatly to the security of their areas, and they say that they are worried that their departure will harm their security.<\/p>\n
