The Somali Civil Aviation Authority has denied that Somalia’s airspace is being handed over to a foreign country, and said that it is not possible for Somalia to manage its airspace at this time.<\/p>\n

In a brief press release issued by the agency, it said that there is no plan known to the Somali government that could make it possible for the management of the airspace in Somalia to be transferred to a foreign country.<\/p>\n

The news released by the Somali Civil Aviation Authority comes at the same time when the former president of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, sent a serious warning to the Federal Government of Somalia, regarding the plan to transfer the management of Somalia’s airspace to a foreign government.<\/p>\n

Farmajo strongly objected to the Somali government handing over the responsibility of air management to a company owned by the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n

Farmajo argued that this threatens national security and undermines the progress made in Somalia’s aviation.<\/p>\n

A few days ago, the media was speculating that the Somali government is handing over the management of the airspace to a company from the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n

The NAV-PASS company has entered into an agreement with the Federal Government to collect funds from Somalia Air.<\/p>\n
