The Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education of the Federal Government of Somalia has said that 26,570 teachers have competed for positions intended to recruit 3,000 teachers.<\/p>\n

It is the largest number of job applicants posted at one time, which shows the level of unemployment in the country, although the Somali government argues that it has increased the level of youth employment.<\/p>\n

21,083 of the contestants are men, while 5,487 are women. Also 12,670 candidates – 9,546 males and 3,124 females – have passed the written test and will proceed to the next stage.<\/p>\n

This recruitment plan is part of the ministry’s overall plan to strengthen education by hiring new teachers and expanding education across the country.<\/p>\n

The Somali government has confirmed that the salaries of these new teachers have been included in the National Budget which was recently approved by the Parliament.<\/p>\n
