Somalia and Turkey have signed an agreement on the exploration and production of oil and gas, and this agreement is another step to enhance the relationship between the two countries.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed in Istanbul by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Alparslan Bayraktar and the Minister of Petroleum and Minerals of Somalia, Abdirisaq Omar Mohamed.<\/p>\n

Turkey’s energy minister announced that Turkey will send its research vessel Oru\u00e7 Reis to conduct research in an area off the coast of Somalia by the end of this year.<\/p>\n

Bayraktar, who spoke at the press conference, said that Turkey has been engaged in natural gas exploration efforts for the last eight years, using its drilling capabilities.<\/p>\n

“We see this as an example today, that the agreement we signed with Somalia in this hall on March 7, 2024, has become practical today,” he added.<\/p>\n

Turkey and Somalia signed an agreement in early March on oil and natural gas cooperation off the coast of Somalia.<\/p>\n

During his speech, Bayraktar announced that Turkey will explore for natural gas and oil in three areas in the Somali Sea.<\/p>\n
