The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, together with the President of Eritrea, Isaias Afwerki, visited units of the Somali Air Force who are undergoing training at the Air Force Base of Eritrea (EAF) in Asmara.<\/p>\n

The president then observed the conditions they are in, after listening to reports from some of the officers and soldiers he is training.<\/p>\n

After the inspection, President Hassan Sheikh concluded his visit to Eritrea.<\/p>\n

Eritrea has trained thousands of soldiers for Somalia, but President Sheikh has been criticized for not making good use of the troops brought back to the country. Except for some who are currently on the war front and a number who have died in Al-Shabaab battles.<\/p>\n

The government of Somalia now wants to rebuild the air forces of Somalia, as when the arms embargo was lifted, for the first time, Somalia received military air support from the governments that are close friends with Somalia.<\/p>\n

Recently, the government introduced a helicopter which it said will participate in the war against al-Shabaab. President Hassan Sheikh made his first trip on that plane to an area in the Middle Shabelle region.<\/p>\n
