The Vice President and Acting President of Puntland Ilyas Osman Lugatoor said that the amendment of the constitution will lead to the separation of the unity of Somalia.<\/p>\n

President Ilyas Lugatoor said that if Somalia is divided, President Hassan Sheikh will be responsible for it alone.<\/p>\n

The statement of the Puntland vice president came at a time when Puntland recently announced that it would act as an independent state, withdrawing its trust from the federal government.<\/p>\n

A few days later, the Puntland administration began to send a delegation to Ethiopia, in order to negotiate with Ethiopia for close cooperation with the Puntland regional administration.<\/p>\n

Also, Puntland opposed the decision of the federal government of Somalia, which was about closing the consulate of the Ethiopian government in the city of Garowe.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, President Hassan Sheikh said that any concern should not be an excuse to seek help from a foreigner. He said that the government of Somalia is committed to implement the amendments made to the country’s constitution.<\/p>\n
