The ship MV Abdullah, which was hijacked by Somali pirates, is still being held off the coast of Puntland, while the owner of the ship, SR Shipping, and Bangladesh government officials have ruled out an attack on the ship.<\/p>\n

They said the priority is the safety of the crew on board the ship.<\/p>\n

Khorshed Alam of the Maritime Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh insisted on the decision to avoid armed intervention.<\/p>\n

The general manager of SR Shipping, Meherul Karim, reinforced this position, saying that the safety of the workers is their highest priority, and he noted that they are in a good place in their relationship with pirate groups.<\/p>\n

However, the company received a report from the ship’s captain who communicated via satellite phone, confirming that all the crew members were in good condition and treated the pirates well.<\/p>\n

The 55,000 ton coal ship has been lying four miles off the coast of Puntland’s Nugal region since it was seized 600 miles off the coast a week ago.<\/p>\n

According to maritime analysts, the pirates are waiting for ransom money to be paid.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the Indian Navy managed to rescue the crew of the MV Ruen, which was kidnapped by Somali pirates in December 2023.<\/p>\n

During the 40-hour battle, 35 pirates were captured after they surrendered, and 17 workers who were with them were rescued.<\/p>\n
