The Galgaduud Regional Court of Appeal has announced the reopening of the case of the horrific murder of three people accused of killing a mother, Safiya Dahir Wehliye, and her three daughters, who were killed in an area under Qayib last month.

The decision was made in an official statement issued on October 29, 2025, in which the Court stated that it would review and file a new appeal in the previous case in which the defendants, Abdi Osman Abdullahi, Ayuub Mohamed Abdi, and Ali Adan Hussein, were convicted.

The Court’s statement indicated that the reopening of the case came after a formal complaint was filed regarding the conduct of the previous hearing of the case, with the aim of re-evaluating the evidence and witnesses presented.

According to a letter from the Galgaduud Court of Appeal, the reopened case is scheduled to resume on November 5, 2025, and the parties to the case, their lawyers and security officials in Dhusamareb have been invited.

The court said it wants full justice and a fair hearing, ensuring that the deaths of the mother and her children receive a fair trial based on evidence and the laws of the country.

This decision has attracted significant attention in the Somali community, with many calling for the case to be heard fairly and for justice to be served without bias.
