The government of Somalia has urged the African Union and the United Nations to take a principled stand against Ethiopia’s violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity in Somalia.

“We call on the member states to take a principled position on the illegal MOU,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia.

The news from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia came at the time of the 14th of this month in Addis Ababa city of the African Union summit, where the leaders of Africa and delegates from the international community will gather.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is not known to be attending the conference due to the conflict between Somalia and Ethiopia, as a result of the maritime agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland.

The government of Somalia wants the African Union meeting to include the issues discussed by Ethiopia on the independence of the territorial unity of Somalia.

The African Union has already called on the two countries to resolve their tensions through dialogue and reconciliation. The Security Council also diverted the tension between the two countries to reach a solution through the AU and IGAD.
