The United Nations representative in Somalia, Catriona, spoke about the conflict between Somalia and Ethiopia.


The Special Envoy of the United Nations in Somalia, Catriona Laing, supported a statement issued by the Security Council of the United Nations, which was about respecting the territorial independence and unity of Somalia.

Catriona Laing, who gave a report at the meeting of the Security Council, called on the parties to enter into an effective peace dialogue and to avoid actions that could further provoke conflict between the two countries.

The statement from the UN envoy comes as the UN envoy to Somalia, Ambassador Abukar Dahir Osman, expressed strong concern over the military activities of Ethiopia on the border of Somalia.

The ambassador’s speech highlighted the critical issues arising from Ethiopia’s intervention, stressing the important need for respect for sovereignty and compliance with international law by all parties concerned.

Ambassador Osman’s speech at the council underlined the importance of maintaining stability in the region and the important role played by the United Nations and the African Union in efforts to prevent conflicts.

He stressed the urgent need for Ethiopia to respect the principles of territorial integrity and good-neighbourhood, which reflects a broad call for diplomatic engagement and peaceful resolution of disputes.
