President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud agreed with Prime Minister Hamse Somalia’s position on the situation in Gaza, while delivering a speech to the president of the African-Arab summit that opened yesterday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“I would like to mention the concern of the Somali Government about the situation in Gaza and we call for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to help the most vulnerable people,” said President Hassan Sheikh.
The President pointed out the importance of working towards a two-state solution as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamse Abdi Barre, recently said that the Hamas group is not a terrorist organization, but a group of mujahideen who stand for the liberation and protection of the Palestinian land.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the only satisfactory solution is to have two governments, saying “We will not compromise until we see a Palestinian government with Jerusalem as its capital.
