A Kenyan businessman was arrested at the port of Mogadishu and then disappeared.

A businessman who was accused of illegally transporting military equipment and explosives seized at the Port of Mogadishu is missing, after the Kenyan police arrested him in May this year.

His lawyer, and his family claim that Zakariya Kamala Sufi Abashiekh was arrested on September 5 by individuals claiming to be policemen from the Kenya Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATPU). So far, he has not been seen anywhere connected to you and his information.

When he appeared in court in May, the businessman expressed concern for his safety due to threats he had received from unidentified individuals in Somalia.

This man was accused of helping the ship carrying military equipment from China to Al-Shabaab before the Somali government seized it.

He was first arrested on April 28 in Mombasa County. He was then referred to the Shanzu Court to be kept in custody pending investigation into his involvement in the shipment and delivery of military equipment to the Al-Shabaab group.

The Kenyan government has accused the businessman of buying military equipment from China on behalf of Al Shabaab, to bring it to Somalia.

On May 19, the Somali government announced that it had taken over the facilities at Mogadishu Port and Airport.
