The Turkish state energy company, TPAO (Turkiye Petroleri Anonim Ortakligi) and the Somali Petroleum Agency have signed an agreement on joint carbon exploration in Somalia, according to the Minister of Energy of Turkey, Alparslan Bayraktar.
According to the report, Turkey and Somalia signed a high-level agreement on defense and economy, when the Minister of Defense of Somalia visited Ankara.
“With this agreement, we will carry out oil and gas research operations on the territory of Somalia,” said the Minister of Energy, Bayraktar.
At the Energy Forum held in Istanbul last week, the President of Turkey, Erdogan, said that the Turkish ship “Oruc Reis” has started working in three areas in Somali waters.
The news added that Turkey will conduct oil and gas exploration in the Somali Sea in three specific areas.
