The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Puntland administration, Abdi Saeed Juha, has revealed that nearly 30,000 Ethiopian refugees have entered the Puntland region for 10 months.

The minister said this before the Puntland parliament, expressing strong concern about the influx of Ethiopian immigrants.

Minister Juxa said that the Puntland administration does not have enough power to control or deal with the growing number of refugees.

He also pointed out that discussions with the Ethiopian government are focused on how to control the flow of refugees and the return of refugees in Puntland.

“There are already 15,000 refugees and 450,000 IDPs in Puntland. The current situation has been made worse by the influx of Ethiopian migrants that have increased in recent days,” said Minister Juxa.

The minister urged governments and international organizations to provide immediate support to Puntland to deal with the humanitarian problems caused by the growing number of refugees and displaced persons in Puntland areas.
