The regional government of Jubbaland and the representatives of the two Jubbaland councils in the Federal Parliament of Somalia have opposed the move yesterday approved by the honorable members of the two Houses of the constitution of the independent committee for national elections.
In a press release from the Jubbaland administration, it was said that the approval of the members of the two councils regarding the constitution of the independent commission of elections is illegal.
Jubbaland said that the sessions before the two houses of the Parliament of the National Elections Act were not part of the members of the Federal Parliament representing the administrations of Jubbaland and Puntland.
“The illegal action taken by the Parliament today, while talks were going on, is a proof that the leaders of the country are not ready for dialogue, listening, respect, and compromise for the Somali nation and respect the constitution, as they are not stopping the tradition and bringing Chaos and political uncertainty that is becoming more and more important” was said in the press release from Jubbaland.
On the other hand, the members of the two houses of Jubbaland representing the Federal Parliament of Somalia have issued a press release against the decision of the members of the two houses to approve the establishment of the independent commission for the country’s elections, which they said is against the working procedures of the government.
The MPs from Jubbaland have also said in their press releases that they will not accept and will not be part of anything that has been approved in the country’s constitution.
“The members of the two councils elected from the Jubbaland areas declare that they have been trampled on in the councils, the government and the sessions of the Assembly” was said in the press release of the members of the two councils representing Jubbaland in the Somali Parliament.
These press releases from the administration of Jubbaland and the MPs elected from the areas of that administration in the two chambers of the Somali Parliament are coming, as yesterday the two chambers of the Federal Parliament jointly approved the National Elections Act.
