The Somali government has sent an urgent warning to the people living in the area controlled by Al-Shabaab, calling on them to move away before the attacks planned by the army.
Somali Defense Minister Abd Qadir Mohamed Noor said that it is becoming difficult to distinguish between civilians and Al-Shabaab, especially when Al-Shabaab is hiding among the local population.
“We are telling people to stay away from Al-Shabaab wherever they are. “Something unexpected will soon happen to Al-Shabaab,” said the Minister. “If you live near al-Shabaab, stay away. We are not hiding the fact that our forces are ready to attack.”
The Minister of Defense revealed that the government has purchased heavy weapons and is ready for large-scale operations such as bombings and ground attacks on Al-Shabaab locations.
He called on the people to move themselves and their animals to safe places. He also underlined that the government of Somalia will not bear the loss of the people who are affected by the attacks carried out in Al-Shabaab territory.
